I'm Loving Skinny Belts!

Lately I've been wearing my skinny belts... A LOT. They seem to be just the accessory I need. Whatever I have on...I say to myself, "Why not add a skinny belt to this?" and the answer 9 times out of 10 is "good idea"!

Don't just wear a sweater and dress...ADD a skinny belt to it.
It's the skinny belt that pulls together the whole look....
Wearing a skinny belt creates texture, adds some layering interest, gives waist-definition and sometimes a fun pop of color.

Here's what I'm wear my skinny belts with:
  • classic cardigans
  • fly-away sweaters
  • blazers (belted over the top or under "peeking out")
  • knit or woven blouses
  • basic dresses
  • long tunics

It's the added bit of waist definition that seems to make all the difference. Instead of the top and bottom just coming together...the waist gets highlighted with the skinny belt and it magically "balances" my shape! It's easy, yet makes so much style sense.

The beauty of a skinny belt is it can be worn by so many different shaped women. No need for a "perfect" really! If you are short-waisted, a bit undefined in the torso or have a full'll often find a belt that is too wide "messes up" your body's proportions....whereas a SKINNY belt will be just right! Give the skinny belt a try-on.

I was at Target again yesterday... (Yes, I'm aware I go there often. Ya know, I didn't ask them to build it so close to my house, LOL) well, while at the store, I saw lots of adorable skinny belts hanging on the racks: animal prints (black/white, brown/black) there were bright pinks and yellows too...there were skinny belts for every wardrobe and budget! So, if you have a Target near you check out the accessory department for'll probably buy one. (Me, I have enough I looked for you. Yes, that's how I roll: I look for YOU)

It's starting to get cool here.
This is the last weekend for wearing my sandals (mid-70's)
I'm going to start wearing this dress with my brown or black boots...

Go skinny! Let this fun affordable accessory help balance your shape while you add just the right touch to everything you wear!

Love Leslie, your "cyber fashion stylist". Check me out at:

  1. Love the belts and am looking for the perfect one before I make a purchase.

  2. Jackie, Once you purchase your skinny'll find you wear it a lot too! Let me know!

  3. I have a black skinny belt that I have been wearing a lot lately too.(after you let us know that you can wear it over a cardigan, jacket, etc. I love it! I also have an animal print belt that I wear a lot also. It just seems to go with a LOT of things. Thank you!

  4. Becky,

Ah yes, you are another testiment as to why we should love our skinny belts, LOL!

I think we are both going to have a stylish fall season, don't you?

    Much love, Leslie

  5. I have a skinny belt I bought at Boston Proper almost 10 years ago and I find myself pulling it out more and more these days. I thought it was just me. I'm glad I'm not alone! Thank you. Patty

  6. I followed your advice and finally bought a pencil skirt. It came with a black skinny belt. This weekend, I wore my grey pencil skirt, dark purple tee, grey cardigan, and black skinny belt over the top. I got three different compliments.

  7. Leslie, I really like the safari shirtdress. I think that would look just as good with boots as it does with the sandals.

I don't know that my belts would qualify as "skinny," but they are narrow - about 1" thick. I'm going to try your suggestions.

  8. Serendipity...I think your belts will work. Let me know how it looks.

Perhaps I'll post a photo of this shirtdress worn with some of my boots.

I just got some booty boots and I LOVE them! So fun to wear :)

  9. I have a hard time with the concept of wearing belts with a large stomache. I'm a 5'4" curvy C Body Type, at the very edge of Misses sizes, but not Women's sizes are too large. My stomache sticks out above and below the can this be flattering? Do I need a thinner or wider belt? Am I pulling it too tight perhaps?

I wear a tummy tamer when I have to, but for daily wear, it's too hot to do that with temps still in the 90's-100's. Any suggestions?

  10. DJ belts may not be your best accessory...but play around with them and give them a try.

You can always try a one inch belt "peeking out" from under a unbuttoned jacket. It is a good look for many ladies when their waist is on the short side or undefined.

    Hope that helps!

  11. Super like, i love this one fancy and cute Thin Belts. Thank you so much for everything you’ve put into in this blog has me coming back time and time again. Looking forward for more information. Thanks
