Happy Sunday Morning...

It's nice to have a day where you don't have to go anywhere. It's a happy Sunday morning here & and don't have to be anywhere but home. I like that.

With a busy weekly schedule and all the hustle and bustle throughout the week..I sure like having a day to collect my thoughts, clean my house, make a home-cooked  meal (I do that pretty much everyday I guess) and prepare for the upcoming week in a non-hurried way...I guess you could say I like Sundays! Don't you?

This morning I curled up in my big chair and sipped a cup of strong coffee (w/ a bit of half & half) and "planned" my unplanned day. The only thing I accomplished was to post some pictures of ways to wear scarves on my Facebook fan page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/MissusSmartyPants/133840446927?ref=mf

Go and take a look and let me know if you have some other creative ways to tie a scarf...I'll share some more ideas when it's another day...besides my Sunday!

I heart scarves too, don't you?

I love scarves. I "heart" them and so does my friend Diane. http://dianedenmark.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-heart-scarves.html

Check out her pretties and you'll want to get a couple new ones yourself!

They are easy-chic and keep you warm when you need it (seems like our winter weather is longer this year). So, there is no better time than NOW to tie one on!

Do you wear scarves--or are you afraid you'll look silly?

An Accessory Advantage

Are you looking to shake up your "same old, same old" look?

If so you must include accessories! Use accessories to your advantage. Most women wear the same earrings or necklace all the time. Why be boring and predictable? Why not look great & learn how to use accessories (like jewelry, belts, scarves) to your advantage! Accessories are actually a "style tool" that can balance your proportions (not to mention they show our unique sense of style).

Where you place a brooch (or other accessory) can bring attention to that area (like up at your neckline) and away from other areas. Talk about product placement! Bring attention to the good bits and minimize the not so good with simple styles and darker colors where you don't want the attention.

Solve your need for "retail therapy" in a CHEAP way! Nowadays, we are all pinching our pennies. Use accessories to your advantage here. You can use brooches, belts, scarves, etc. to add style to the same 'ol jacket you've been wearing all season! Add a colorful belt over your cream-colored cardigan. A new look w/ a minimal investment. I love that.

What accessories are your favorites? Scarves, earrings, belts? How have you used accessories to your style advantage?

Do you want a better butt?

Check out this butt...yours can be this great!

I've been thinking about pants. I know it's sounds kinda funny that I'm thinking about such an item. But (no pun intended) pants--really great fitting ones can really help you improve your shape. Who doesn't want that???!!

Don't overlook the fit if your pants. If they are saggy, baggy, too short or outdated...you are not looking your best!

As a fashion stylist, I like to share ways to help you dress your best. So here is one main thing I help my personal shopping clients understand about their pants: The more parallel the inner edges of the pockets are to the middle seam--the better your butt will look. So get checking your "bottom line" in a 3-way mirror! Of course cut and style also are important and it depends on your body shape too...but (here's the butt word again, LOL) DO check your back pocket placement!

Oh and one more thing...if you are looking for really great support and style suggestions consider joining my free style group. Lots of helpful women chatting about their style here: https://www.bigtent.com/groups/missusmsp

A Tuesday musing...

If men are left to their own devices...they might wear the craziest things! These pictures made me laugh and scratch my head. Come on a man in capris, not to mention a bad mixture of plaid. Oh my!

These pictures got me thinking...do you help your man dress?

How does your man do when he decides on his clothes by himself. My husband does pretty good, but loves a little input from me. I also have to say he is quite honest with what I'm wearing. If he doesn't like something, he will certainly let me know! Funny though, I might not always take HIS advice and change! LOL!

Just got me thinking: "how many women help their man dress?"

Get the most out of your clothes!

First of all, I guess I could be smiling in this photo, huh? Oh well. I was happy inside. Why? Because I was wearing my favorite colorful scarf (goes w/ everything) and because I like to stretch my wardrobe dollars as much as possible. This outfit does just that.

When I shop for my closet or take one of my clients shopping, I'm always looking for wardrobe pieces that extend a wardrobe. Like in this picture. This "second-hand" gray sheath dress (purchased for $4.99) actually looks like a straight skirt...NOT a dress.

That's the beauty of a sheath dress (or other basic pieces). You can layer underneath the dress with a shirt blouse or a turtleneck. However, many women don't ever think to layer OVER their dresses.

How about you? Have you layered over the top of your dresses, or is this look/style new to you? I'm interested in how you stylishly extend your wardrobe!

Sneek Peek Monday

Yup, I'm shopping at Goodwill this week! So many stylish bargains to be found (among the crap of course)

 Good Monday morning y'all!

I'm excited about this week's topic...but then I can pretty much say that every week, can't I?

Since I'm a frugal girl at heart, it will be fun to share this week's style article called "Second-hand Sally"!

I've taken lots of pictures of outfits I've made from my frugal finds. I hope my outfits inspire you in your closet.

I'll also share tips to make your second-hand shopping a real treasure hunt!
